Groupshow „Zzzz...“, chicken space, Berlin, Curated by Marlijn Karsten & Anina Müller, 2021

As my contribution to a group exhibition hosted by Chicken Space in a hotel room in Berlin’s Kreuzberg neighbourhood, I created a site-specific installation to initiate curious viewers into watching my video titled In girum imus nocte et consumimur igni.

Provisionally constructed from recycled corrugated cardboard, a wall blocks the entrance to the hotel room’s closet. A rectangular paper window frames a rear projection of a video depicting a cyclist riding endlessly in a loop in the center of an intersection while towing a kite in one hand. The camera’s perspective captures the action from the centre of the loop, tracking with the bicycle and kite.

Above this window, at eye level, a peephole reveals a diorama containing the projector beaming the above-described video, as well as various artefacts including a teddy bear, childlike drawings of a dream house, a remote control, and a lamp. Accompanying this installation, I hung four collages around the hotel room.
